The Saree Destination respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it.
It covers www.sareedestination.com and any order or conversation you have with us on WhatsApp or Instagram.
1. What We Collect
When you place an order Your name, delivery address, phone number, email address, and the details of what you ordered.
When you pay Payment is handled entirely by our payment gateway. We never see or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking credentials. We receive only a confirmation that payment succeeded, the amount, and a transaction reference.
When you message us If you order or enquire over WhatsApp or Instagram, we keep that conversation — including your phone number, profile name, and any photographs you send us — so we can process your order and handle any return.
When you browse the site Your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at our site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).
When you sign up for updates Your name, email address and phone number.
When you send us a review or photograph Whatever you choose to share with us.
What we do not collect We do not ask for and do not want your Aadhaar number, PAN, bank passwords, or any government identifier. Please never send these to us.
2. Why We Use It
We use your personal data to:
- process, pack, ship and deliver your order
- send you order confirmations, dispatch alerts and tracking updates
- handle returns, replacements, refunds and complaints
- answer your questions on WhatsApp, Instagram or email
- maintain our order and accounting records, as required by law
- detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive orders
- send you offers and new-arrival updates, only if you have opted in
- understand how our site is used, so we can improve it
We do not use your data for any purpose beyond these without asking you first.
3. Our Basis for Processing
We process your data with your consent, which you give when you place an order, message us, or subscribe to updates.
Where processing is necessary to fulfil an order you have placed, or to meet a legal or tax obligation, we rely on the legitimate uses permitted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, and it will be as easy to withdraw as it was to give. Write to us on WhatsApp. Withdrawing consent will not affect processing already carried out, and we may still need to retain certain records to meet tax and accounting obligations.
4. Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal data. We never have and we will not.
We share it only with the service providers we need to run the store:

We may also disclose data where we are legally required to — for example, in response to a court order, a tax authority, or a lawful request from a government agency.
5. Cookies and Tracking
Our site uses cookies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used.
- Essential cookies keep the cart and checkout functioning. The site will not work without them.
- Analytics cookies tell us which pages and products people visit, in aggregate.
- Advertising cookies, including the Meta pixel, let us show relevant ads on Instagram and Facebook and measure whether they worked.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, checkout will not work.
6. Where Your Data Is Stored
Our store runs on Shopify, and some of our tools are operated by companies based outside India. This means your data may be stored or processed on servers located outside India.
Where that happens, we rely on the contractual and security commitments given by those providers, and we transfer data only to countries not restricted by the Government of India for this purpose.
7. How Long We Keep It
- Order and invoice records: retained for as long as tax and accounting law requires — currently 8 years.
- WhatsApp and Instagram conversations: up to 3 years after your last order, so we can handle returns and repeat purchases.
- Marketing contact details: until you unsubscribe, and then removed.
- Website analytics: typically up to 26 months.
Once data is no longer needed for any of the purposes in this policy, and no legal obligation requires us to keep it, we delete it.
8. How We Protect It
We limit access to customer data to the people who need it to run the store. Our website runs over HTTPS, and payment data goes directly to the gateway without touching our systems.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
9. Your Rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Know what personal data we hold about you and who we have shared it with
- Correct data that is inaccurate, and complete data that is incomplete
- Erase your data, where we no longer need it for a lawful purpose
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapable of exercising them yourself
- Complain to us, and then to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied
To exercise any of these, email [SUPPORT EMAIL] or message us on WhatsApp with your order number. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Children
Our store is intended for customers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we do not run targeted advertising at children.
If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
11. Marketing Messages
We send offers and new-arrival updates only to people who have asked for them.
Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link. To stop WhatsApp updates, reply STOP to any message. You will still receive transactional messages about orders you have placed — order confirmations, dispatch alerts and delivery updates are not marketing.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If we make a significant change to how we use your data, we will tell you directly.
